Push yourself to network and talk to profess about the steps they took to get to where they are. Also ask for more work if you are not being challenged enough.

Nothing - the learning experience I had at Thermo Fisher was outstanding. I gained new skills, incredible mentorship, and a clearer sense of my career goals.
Advice
If you go into this role, do not forget to network once you are in. As a sophomore, I did not know what "networking" was, but I realized that at Thermo Fisher, it is so easy to send someone whose position you are interested in an email and set up a quick call. Take advantage of that because most employees I networked with or talked to offered to help me or give me advice if I ever wanted any.

What I liked
This was an inside look into the operations of a multi-national corporation. It is one thing to learn about these kinds of companies in books, but to see them in person is quite another. The levels of organization, the methods of communication, and the level of professional were astounding. An eye opening experience to say the least.
What I wish was different
It was a great team and a great environment to work in. I would not have changed a thing.
Advice
Learn as much as you can in the time you have to be with Thermo Fisher. There are great networking events to become a part and many great people who can mentor you for years to come. It is an experience, so do all that you can to experience all that you can.

The job itself was simple, and as for the social aspect I enjoyed getting to know my coworkers.
What I wish was different
I worked the night shift, which was pretty understaffed. This caused some minor confusion and shuffling in daily assignments.
Advice
The night shift is not for everyone, and especially for long term (I was a summer contract worker). If you find the work fulfilling, you can find opportunities to make your career with the company.

What I liked
I really liked the work environment and my coworkers. Everybody I worked with was very nice and helpful. From day one, I got involved inside and outside of the lab. I was trained on the proper techniques of their testing. I enjoyed using different equipment to test the size of particles as they are inhaled through an inhaler. Also, I liked running my samples through a High Performance Liquid Chromatographer and processing my results.
What I wish was different
Advice
My best piece of advice would be to always be on the lookout for learning opportunities and don't be afraid to ask questions.

What I liked
The employees at TF were all very friendly and open. They were willing to take time out of their day to meet interns to review resumes, give advice, etc. My manager was also very repsonsive to any questions or requests I had.
What I wish was different
I wish the internship program was a little bit more detailed. There were not many events for interns.
